a member of Australia’s victorious 400m medley relay. She
then cemented her name into the swimming history books during the
2004 FINA Short Course World Championships in Indianapolis, where
she won an unprecedented six gold medals. Her success in Indianapolis
made her the single most successful athlete at a World Championship
event and earned her the title of Female Swimmer of the Meet. Brooke
continued on her winning ways at the 2005 Telstra Trials, winning
the 200m individual medley and finishing second in the 50m, 100m
and 200m breaststroke, to qualify for the World Championships and
the Mutual of Omaha Duel in the Pool.
Quote:
“Everyone on our team who swam at the Duel in the Pool in
2003 is pumped to be returning for another chance at a one-night
meet that will set the pool alight. It is tough one-on-one racing,
and the USA may have thought they had it easy last time, but watch
out because this year the Aussies mean business.”
